About This Spot

Stepping into Cocina de Colima is like being welcomed into a warm, unpretentious corner of Houston that feels more home than restaurant. The pace here slows down just enough to invite genuine connection — whether with friends sharing a meal or with the attentive staff who bring a quiet kindness to every table. It’s that rare, lived-in kind of comfort that makes you linger, savoring small moments amid the clatter of a bustling kitchen.

The atmosphere carries the subtle hum of a neighborhood spot that has quietly anchored itself in the Pulsing Fountain View Drive area. It’s not flashy or loud, but rather a place where familiar faces and first-timers alike come together over food made with care and history. The modest exterior and intimate seating hint at something delightfully authentic just beyond the door — an experience shaped by tradition and genuine hospitality.

What you’ll find on your plate complements this feeling perfectly. The offerings invite you to discover layers of familiar flavors reimagined with a home-cooked touch: the charred goodness wrapped in tacos, the satisfying sizzle of fajitas, the freshness in the ceviche, and comforting breakfast dishes that slowly become weekend rituals. It’s the kind of menu that doesn’t ask for fanfare but rewards those who come with curiosity and appetite.

Behind the scenes, this is a family-led endeavor that carries the warmth of shared stories and recipes passed down through generations. The steady flow of locals returning for their favorites is testament to the quiet consistency and heartfelt attention that never wavers. Whether you’re in for a casual lunch, a leisurely breakfast, or a simple meal delivered to your door, Cocina de Colima offers a momentary pause — a space to celebrate flavors, community, and the small but essential act of breaking bread together.

This place is a 10/10 a cozy family Owen mexican restaurant that as soon as you step in, seems like you are part of that family. I say my aunt's name is Colina cause it feels like the auntie place. One thing about this Rest is that I can't pick 1 favorite dish cause I can't, that good is it.

Don't let its humble appearance fool you. I have been coming here for over 15 years and the quality of the food and the customer service has never changed. The food is always fresh to order with a large selection to choose from. Fan favorite for us has been the Ceviche!

While small, it's quite only 1 or 2 servers, but they are very attentive, the food very good, had the Chile Reyeno with fajita meat, was not spicy until I got closer to top of Chile but not crazy hot very good, definitely coming back, even the prices are better than anywhere around Westheimer, Richmond and Fountianview! Lots to choose from on the menu, especially for breakfast!
